A couple new tracks by Invincible, produced by Waajeed, from the forthcoming Bling47 album The War LP, have been posted on her MySpace page (myspace.com/invincilana).
Taken from Bling47.com are liner notes for the two new tracks written by Kenny Fresh (no relation):
PICK YOUR POISON
"The polyrhythm in the beat made it sound like a staggering drunk to me, inspired the topic war on drugs criminalizes some addictions but not others, rather than focus on harm reduction." Other themes throughout the songs include her "addiction to music" and "addiction to truth and understanding and justice - and to combining the two."
THE PLACE WHERE WE DWELL (PART D)
With this track, she tried to convey "the balance of painting a victorious picture of the city in the midst of the predicament its been put in after years of abandonment/disinvestment and white flight/segregation. heavily inspired by survivors of Katrina, and the false hope of Superbowl XL. Our only hope here is to actually support the brilliance and talent which already exists in so many Detroiters, who will come up with new solutions to problems the system has failed to solve."

Sixth Year Smoke Out Video Clips Now Up|We finally have footage up for viewing from this past April's sixth year anniversary bash from Northern Lights Lounge of John Arnold & Jeremy Ellis special J. The Fresh Corporation along with Rensoul.com is adding a new twist to their already infamous party line-up this Memorial Day Weekend with the installment of “Shake it Down.” Highlighting this event will be the Spank Rock DJ’s, Devlin and Darko, making their Detroit debut as a pair. This dance party extraordinaire will be at the legendary Masonic Temple on May 27th, with Baltimore newcomer Tittsworth and resident DJ’s John Arnold and K-Fresh accompanying Devlin and Darko. Adriel, who is one of Detroit’s premiere event producers, will host this spanking new event.
Reflecting the party rap atmosphere of Baltimore's club scene, Spank Rock arrived as one of the best things to happen to both underground hip-hop and dirty rap, a pair of styles that rarely intermingle. Influenced by Baltimore's fertile but rarely exported club scene, Spank Rock tracks were influenced by the skeletal break beats of electro and bass, glitch and grime, while MC Spank Rock proved up to the task of conjuring the hypersexual rhymes necessary for a genuine Baltimore flavor. Signed to the British label Big Dada, the duo turned heads with early singles "Backyard Betty" and "Rick Rubin." Spank Rock's debut album, YoYoYoYoYo, appeared in April 2006. Their success has provided Spank Rock with a spot on Madden ’07, a gig on the Jimmy Kimmel show, as well as appearances spanning the entire world.
“Shake it Down” will be held on Sunday May 27th at the Masonic Temple with doors at 11 pm. The event will cost $10 and is an 18 + up show with valid identification.

It looks like a time to rejoice as in an age when many of the good venues for our urban music community in Detroit have shut down one of the best will see its resurrection later this year. The sushi bar Oslo has been bought out by a hip hop DJ from Detroit known as DJ Bet along with his wife Katalia Lemos and mother-in-law. It will take some time to get Oslo re-opened but they will still keep it a sushi bar along with an additional Asian cuisine. More details on its reopening to come
