September 2007 Archives

A bit late on posting all this but everybody needs to check out The Bar Exam mixtape from Royce Da 5'9" presented by DJ Statik and DJ Premier. The mix features a few new DJ Premier joints including "Hit 'Em" and "Ding", which are also now available as a 12" single via Game Recordings (yes, which another hot ass Game Girl like the old Royce 12"s). Royce also drops freestyles and remakes old hip hop classics on the mix. The remake of Nas' "Nas Is Like" for "Royce Is Like" is ridiculous.

Royce also appeared recently on a couple remixes. First is the "Sound The Alarm (Remix)" from Black Milk also featuring Guilty Simpson available on the Shut It Down 12" single. Also, Royce is featured on the "Play It" remix from Big Shug produced by DJ Premier.

In late 2004, I helped work the promotion and distribution of the Libido Sounds released Elzhi double disc mix CD Witness My Growth. We ended up selling an impressive amount of those discs garnering alot of attention through the internet for the project, and the disc continued to sell regulary over 2 years later.

Now in 2007, the head honcho of Libido Sounds and recent addition to the G-Unit in-house production team Nick Speed has his own double disc titled D-Tour which features production work Speed has done for urban artists both mainstream and underground, along with his own vocal emcee contributions.

The double disc is now on sale in the Rensoul Online Store. For a treat, you can download the first single from D-Tour below for the track "WhatUpDoe" featuring Danny Brown, Big Herk, and Phat Kat, which will be hitting radio both locally and online very soon.
