I've been slacking on the coverage of the VERY anticipated collaborative project from California's Bishop Lamont and Detroit's Black Milk titled Caltroit. If you are not in the know, Bishop Lamont is from Carson City, CA and is currently signed to Aftermath where he is working on his own album The Reformation along with Dr. Dre's Detox.
The extremely dope west coast web site DUBCNN.com recently posted an Aftermath sampler hosted by Bishop Lamont along with Aftermath producer Focus titled Mangravy that was given out at Lamont's last "lingerie party" of the same name. The sampler previews songs from the following albums: Bishop Lamont's The Reformation, Bishop Lamont & Black Milk's Caltroit, and Focus' upcoming album Dedicated.

Dropping this fall is the next in the series of BBE Records Kings Of... series with the Kings Of Electro, compiled by the London-based creative Trevor Jackson known as Playgroup, and the German electro duo Alter Ego. You can't do an electro compilation without including some Detroit shit, and Kings Of Electro makes sure to satisfy that requirement. The double mix CD includes Detroit classics such as Model 500's "No Ufo's", Detroit Grand Pubahs's "Big Onion (Joakim Remix)", and Galaxy To Galaxy's "Jupiter Jazz". For an electro-head like myself, this is a dop compilation. Playgroup digs into the early classics of electro while Alter Ego represents the modern representations.

At this past years Detroit Electronic Music Festival, it seemed like the Berlin-based electronic duo Booka Shade was the only artists that rocked the main stage correct. The mix features early influences in electronic music like Yazoo's "Situation" or Heaven 17's "Geisha Boys And Temple Girls", and the new chapters for the likes of Lopazz and The Streets, along with the required Detroit inclusion of Carl Craig ("Landcruising") and Matthew Dear ("Tide" & "Don & Sherri (Hot Chip Remix)").
