So I went out to Toronto to see the Black Milk, Elzhi, and House Shoes show back on November 6th at Revival put on by My Man Henri and Koch Records Canada, and that show was mad dope. Easily one of the best performances I ever seen Black Milk do. Keezy from The Real Frequency (the only underground hip-hop show on commercial radio in Toronto) sent me some video footage of the interview with the guys along with footage of Elzhi's and Black Milk's performances.

Elzhi/Black/House Shoes interview talking about the Detroit Hip-Hop scene, J Dilla and Slum Village, fellow artists that they never expected to be fans, Obama, and more.

Elzhi performance from the Toronto "Tronic" Release Party

Black Milk and DJ House Shoes celebrate the release of the "Tronic" LP in Toronto by performing a gang of joints from the album (check Black re-creating "The Matrix" on the MP), "Popular Demand", and paying tribute to Proof and J Dilla. Special appearances by Elzhi and T Dot's own, Colin Munroe.

The debut album titled Yancey Boys from Illa J, the younger brother of the late great J. Dilla, is in stores now via Delicious Vinyl. The album is done entirely over a selection of unreleased beats made by J. Dilla around 1995 while producing music for Delicious Vinyl's Tha Pharcyde and this classic album LabCabinCalifornia. As Delicious Vinyl owner and founder Michael "Mike Floss" Ross explains: "From '95 through '98 Jay Dee was my go-to guy for hot beats and remixes. He was always making beats, always. So there was a select amount of tracks that he composed for me during that time, tracks as good as anything he'd done, only they never got used. When I finally met Illa J last year, I gave him a CD containing those unreleased beats." The album via stores on Election Day, November 4th.

Above is a footage of Illa J and Aaron LaCrate in the Boombox Music Blog studio for an interview and a little taste of goods to come.
